Today’s wedding couple has one of my favorite love stories! Brittany & Ryan met playing ultimate frisbee when they were in school at BYU. They went on a few dates, but she wasn’t very interested and told him so after a while. Ouch. Ryan really takes pride in staying friends with the girls he dates though, so they continued to spend time together in a platonic way. Brittany dated other people, but after a while she realized that she didn’t like any of the guys she was dating as much as she liked Ryan. A few years went by before she finally decided to give him another shot. In her words, “It wasn’t like dating anyone else for me. We were just unreasonably happy doing all the mundane things together like grocery shopping, working out, and spending time with our families.” They also continued to play ultimate frisbee on a competitive level.
Ryan proposed at Discovery Park in Pleasant Grove. It was close to Brittany’s parents, and she and Ryan would go there all the time to practice their frisbee throws. He had her engagement ring taped (very securely) to the bottom of the frisbee. He threw it to her, and she found the ring. Ryan got down on one knee right then and there and asked her to marry him. Isn’t that a cute story?
Brittany & Ryan were married at the Provo City Center Temple on a pretty day in March. The bride chose sunflowers for her wedding flowers, and they were so lovely and happy. Their florist, Michelle, is a family friend and has been in business for 25 years! Their reception that evening was held at Wadley Farms. I am majorly in love with this venue! I’ve always said that I will never get married in the winter, but if I had this place as my venue, I might consider it. The bride and groom had a group of ultimate frisbee fans in attendance with t-shirts for the couple to sign. They called themselves the “Team McCready” fan club. Brittany & Ryan also had the most adorable nieces and a nephew who wanted to be my “photo assistant.”
Congratulations, Brittany & Ryan! I was so honored to be a part of your wedding day. I wish you so much happiness in your marriage and so many wins in ultimate frisbee!
