Looking the best for photos and especially on your wedding day can be really overwhelming (we hear you!) but it doesn’t have to be. Meet Kaleigh a certified microblading, lash artist & LE located in Sandy, Utah! I’ve teamed up with Kaleigh to give you a checklist and a timeline when it comes to all things beauty prep for photos!
Showing up to photos looking and feeling your best is crucial! We HIGHLY recommend getting your lashes and eyebrows done a few weeks beforehand. This gives you a couple day to get used to the feel and comfortable with everything before photos. It’s also a good way to prep for your wedding day, not to mention getting pampered (a total bonus).
Kaleigh is actually a past Tasha Rose Bride – check out her incredible wedding here. I am so grateful Kaleigh found me to photograph her wedding so I could meet her to become an amazing friend AND have lashes I absolutely LOVE! If you know me, you know that I don’t love to get ready and most of the time I don’t…. and now I never have to! I wanted to try out my very own lashes before recommending them to all of you and I cannot say enough great things about my lashes or Kaleigh!!
Lashes:
Lash extensions are the best way to look ready straight out of bed and give that extra oomph in photos to make your eyes pop and looking better than your every day look.
2.5 weeks before Photo Session: Schedule your initial lash extension appointment! That way you have time to get used to them and recognize any potential changes you’d like made. Then during your fill (preferably 2 days before photo day) you can request exactly what you need!!
2 days before photo session: Have your lash extension fill! This ensures the glue has time to set properly and make sure if any tears show up on photo day, that you’ll still have perfect lashes!
Day of photo session: Make sure whoever applies your makeup is aware of your lash extensions. NO mascara should be applied!! Make sure they’re cautious of eye shadow and eyeliner around your lashes as well. If any powder comes in contact with lashes, wet a spooly brush with water and gently brush it through your lash extensions until dry.
REPEAT timeline for all wedding photos including your wedding day!
*** BONUS TIP: Getting fresh lashes before your big day will result in you looking GORGEOUS every morning on your honeymoon without having to feel like you need to apply or bring mascara!!
Brow Waxing:
Make sure you do your research AHEAD of time and know potential outcomes of the brow artist’s work. NEVER go to new person right before a big picture day. Make sure you’re confident with their work beforehand. After-all, this is your face we’re talking about!
6 weeks before photo session: Schedule INITIAL brow wax appointment. Inform them of your big day, any brow concerns, scars, medication, etc. (You cannot be on any acne medication at least 6 months before waxing). Schedule a follow up brow appointment if you’re happy with the results for about 5 days before the photo session.
5 days before photo session: Go to your follow up brow waxing appointment. Inform your artist of any changes you may want. After brow waxing session AVOID direct sun exposure, makeup, and touching the area for 24 hours (touching and makeup may result in breakouts around the brow area). Having the service done 5 days in advanced allows time for skin to settle and to properly heal before your photo session.
Day of photo session: Apply any makeup to brows to enhance your shape if necessary (your brow artist can & should give you some great recommendations for makeup and how to apply it properly)!
Microblading:
Make sure you do your research and choose a Microblading tech that fits your style!
10 weeks before FIRST photo session: Schedule Initial Appointment! Microblading treatment should be performed this day to ensure healing before touch up! Your tech should schedule your 6 week touch up after your treatment. Your goal should be to have perfect and consistent brows in all your bridal photos including engagements. So keep this crucial timing in mind.
4 weeks before FIRST photo session: Get your microblading touched up! This will ensure that your brows are perfect and that they have time to be 100% healed before your photo day!!
Day of photo session: You may still want to apply makeup! That is 100% up to you and your style. For those who wear a full face of makeup on the daily, Microblading is under the skin and is intended to look natural. Makeup is on the surface of the skin and doesn’t look the same. You may want to put a little brow makeup to match the rest of the makeup if it’s a full face. You will have a perfect guide and texture so it will be less maintenance and easy! That’s the goal.
Now, after you’ve done all of this hard work to look your best make sure your wedding photographer takes some getting ready photos! I was so excited when Kaleigh asked me to come early and take some of my all time favorite shots of her!
I cannot recommend having your lashes and brows done for any occasion or no occasion at all but ESPECIALLY for all wedding related photos. Seriously, Kaleigh not only makes you look amazing but you truly leave FEELING amazing!! Honestly having my lashes done feels like getting to hang out with my best friend and forces me to make time for MYSELF and I seriously LOVE IT! Don’t just take my word for it – book Kaleigh here and find out for yourself! I promise you won’t regret looking your best for photos!
