We are so excited to introduce one of our associate wedding photographers on Tasha Rose’s team! Alyson loves to travel and has been to 5/7 continents and 46/50 states! She works as a corporate recruiter at Pluralsight by day but loves spending her nights and weekends as an associate photographer for Tasha Rose. She’s passionate about Vitamin Water and capturing couples in love to help them remember important moments forever. When Alyson isn’t at a photoshoot as an associate wedding photographer, you can find her at a High Fitness class or reading a good book.
How did you first get into photography?
I bought a camera in 2015 to take on my study abroad in Jerusalem. I had several mentors while there and was very fortunate to learn from so many incredible people. I’ve learned the most from Amy and Jordan Demos Photography courses and that’s actually how I met Tasha! Originally, I only wanted to take portraits but now I LOVE photographing weddings and couples as an associate wedding photographer. I’ve been shooting weddings for three years and can’t get enough of them. My favorite quote: “The best camera to use is the one you have in your hands”.

What is your favorite thing to photograph?
Flowers, cake, the first dance—all of the traditional moments of a wedding! My favorite memory is from a wedding last fall when the bride loved her photos so much that she gave me a gift at HER wedding. I feel so lucky to have a job and team that I love more than anything and it never feels like work either!!
Where is your favorite place to take photos?
The mountains (Tibble Fork and Big Cottonwood Canyon), the ocean (my happy place)—or anywhere that looks like the ocean, and any temple for bridals. When it comes to photoshoots, I especially love anywhere with water right at golden hour! I’ll never forget a photoshoot last fall at Utah Lake, when the bride turned to me and said, “This is my DREAM—pink mountains at golden hour.” And we got to capture the perfect pictures for her. That was one of my favorite moments! Now we just need an Ocean in Utah and I’ll never leave again!!

What is your favorite part of a wedding?
When the bride and groom come out of the temple right after getting MARRIED!!! It is such a fun moment to capture with friends and family all beaming with joy for the couple and being able to provide pictures of a moment that is so important but also so easy to forget with everything going on. Honestly, anything to do with a couple on their wedding day IS THE BEST!!
Do you have any advice for couples or families before their photo session?
Relax and have fun – it sounds easier said than done but seriously all you have to worry about is showing up and having fun with the person you love and we will take care of the rest!! One of my personal favorite photos of the night is the selfie we will snag at the end to remember we are friends for life!

What are 10 of your favorite things?
TV show: Umm…who has time for TV? 😉 I love all of the Harry Potter movies!
Location: Any beach in Southern CA.
Vacation: Mexico with my family this past January. It was fun to have sunshine while everyone in Utah was freezing.
Food: Tostada from Cafe Rio, watermelon, and tacos.
TV Star: Lily James. Have you seen the live-action Cinderella? Enough said.
Disney Movie: Tangled. Something about Flynn Rider’s smolder and their love gets me every time.
Thing To Learn About: Sharks and Shark Week in the summer.
