Meet Our Associate Family Photographer | MEGAN

We are so excited to introduce you to the associate family photographer on Tasha Rose’s team! Megan has never met a chocolate chip cookie she didn’t like, and will take cereal for dinner (clean kitchen) over a five-course meal (sink full of dirty dishes) any day. She has spent the past several years living in Texas, but recently moved back to Utah with her husband and their two daughters. She is a homebody, but also loves a good getaway and exploring new places with her crew! Anywhere coastal will always have her vote! When Megan isn’t at a photoshoot, she’s playing with her girls, reading them books, or with them at the park. In her own free time, Megan loves listening to audiobooks—self help, historical fiction, and mysteries—while cleaning and organizing her house. Her dream night looks like getting the kids in bed early, with a clean house, nothing to do, and a Crumbl cookie on its way!

How did you first get into photography?

I got a basic camera for Christmas one year and would take pictures whenever I could, especially to document things as I grew up! I also took a photography class in high school that I loved and wanted to study photography in college. I ended up choosing a different major, but still kept my interest in photography. Fast forward to when I got married and my husband got me my first DSLR. After that, I would watch YouTube videos to learn more and take pictures for family and friends. I invested in more photography education and grew from there!

What is your favorite thing to photograph?

Toddlers, hands down. They are cute as can be and do the funniest things. I love catching these moments on camera before they grow out of them! Family pictures can be a bit tricky with little ones, but I truly love seeing the interactions between siblings, and capturing the relationship of each parent with each child. It’s priceless! Especially when they are little and aren’t afraid to show their love. 🙂

Why do you love photographing families?

I LOVE taking pictures of families because they change so quickly! It’s so fun to have pictures of kids at different ages and stages and to capture their interactions with siblings and parents. It’s so fun to go back and look back on pictures to see how everyone has changed. The cute little faces they make, how they smile, all the little things that would be easy to forget! I also love being able to document the everyday life to look back on as well. It makes me so happy being able to take pictures of my family and others so they can have them to look back on as well!

Where is your favorite place to take photos?

At the beach! It’s such a fun place to be to watch families play together and get some really candid moments! And it’s absolutely beautiful while not being the usual spot us Utahns get our pictures taken.

Do you have any advice for couples or families before their photo session?

Come as you are! Don’t stress about your kids being perfectly behaved or having the perfect outfit. Those things definitely help, but I’m a mom! I get how it is! Everyone will have a better experience if you come as you are and are happy to be there, rather than stressing about things and having that show up in the pictures.

What are 10 of your favorite things?

TV Show: Shark Tank.
Vacation: Destin, Florida. The whitest sand just a days drive from Houston. We used to go every year the week before Thanksgiving when we lived in Texas. It’s my happy place! Sandy toes and saltwater kisses.
Food: Sweet Pork Salad from Costa Vida.
Time Of Day: Nap time.
Way To Spend Free Time: Decluttering, cleaning, and an audiobook.
Thing To Try That I Don’t Know How To Do: Play the guitar.
Treat: Pizookie with a chocolate chip cookie. The perfect mix of a warm cookie with ice cream. I just need someone to help me find the best one in Utah County!
Sport To Watch: Baseball; go ‘stros!
Place: Front porch swing.
Music Genre: Country! Jason Aldean can do no wrong. Love his stuff!
