The busiest wedding day of the year was 8.18.18. It was a Saturday, and that morning found me on a plane flying to Sacramento, California. As soon as my flight landed, I drove straight to the Sacramento LDS Temple. The soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. Jensen met me there, hand in hand. They were all smiles, full of excitement for their new life together to begin.
Capturing these two and their love didn’t even feel like work. Sophia is a natural in front of the camera and Jake was so smitten with his beautiful bride! Following the ceremony, friends and family gathered outside the temple doors to celebrate with the happy couple. Tears of joy filled the eyes of many as Sophia & Jake were hugged and congratulated, always quickly returning to be close to one another.
The reception was held that evening in a family friend’s backyard that could have easily graced the cover of a magazine! Well-wishers enjoyed delicious tacos and specialty gelato. The gelato was a huge hit with the guests! A line quickly formed and the gelato disappeared just as quickly. Sophia & Jake’s version of “the shoe game” was particularly hilarious. I have an entire blog post coming up about this game if you’re not familiar with it. For those of you planning to include this fun tradition as part of your upcoming wedding festivities, be careful about opening up questions to the crowd. One cute cousin wanted to know who was most likely to go to prison!
The absolute highlight of the night was Sophia & Jake serenading their guests with two songs, including one they wrote themselves. The two of them met while they were both attending Brigham Young University. The apartment complex they both lived in was called “The Cinnamon Tree,” which became the title for their composition. It included the sweetest lyrics: “When we’d meet, little did we know we’d be leaving to make a home, we’d be leaving but not alone.”
The entire weekend celebrating Sophia & Jake’s new marriage was so lovely. I had the pleasure of staying the night with Sophia’s family, and they were so warm and welcoming. I got to enjoy gluten-free Norwegian waffles while hearing stories about this sweet couple and how deserving they are of each other. Sophia & Jake were beyond happy and grateful to have found one another. I have no doubt that eternity will not be long enough for these two!
