Who doesn’t love cherry blossoms? The delicate pink and white blooms are just the epitome of spring. And the trees bursting with cherry blossoms at the Utah State Capitol always turn out so beautifully in pictures! But the window of time to get these dreamy photos isn’t long, so if you want them, these are the details you need to know.

When The Cherry Blossoms Are In Bloom

Typically the cherry blossoms at the Utah State Capitol bloom the 2nd week of April and only last for 3-7 days. When and how long the flowers bloom is all dependent on the weather. But, the past 3 years, they have bloomed during the second week of April, so that’s a pretty safe bet. This year, I am guessing the cherry blossoms will be in bloom from April 7th – April 14th. 

What You Need To Know

It is free and open to the public to take photos at the Utah State Capitol. The inside of the Capitol has been closed since March 2020 for COVID but the outside grounds are available and pretty year-round! 

The Best Time To Take Photos

Along with most locations, sunrise and sunset make for the best photos. Since this location is so popular, I highly recommend choosing a weekday, and if possible, a morning for the best lighting and smallest crowds. An early morning will be well worth it for photos with the cherry blossoms at the Utah State Capitol!

Where Is The Best Place To Take Photos

The Cherry Blossoms surround the entire perimeter or the Capitol. I love getting the front of the Capitol in the background but the backside of the Capitol tends to be less crowded.

Other Things To Consider

Memory Grove Park is located just below within walking distance to the State Capitol if you want an easy second location with even more beautiful flowers. Extra bonus: It’s very dog friendly!
