Finding the perfect Utah wildflower locations for your photo session is easy, thanks to this guide. And if you’re looking for Utah’s best wedding or family photographer to capture your photos in wildflowers, we would love to help you out!
The descriptions below of each of these Utah wildflower locations include our estimates of when the flowers will be in bloom, based on previous years. But, the dates that they actually end up blooming and how long they last are dependent on local water fall and weather conditions.

Cherry Blossoms
-
The Utah State Capitol
These delicate blossoms create the most stunning backdrop and are the epitome of springtime! Since the blossoms are out for such a short amount of time, the only Cherry Blossom photo location more popular than the Utah State Capitol is in Washington DC and that’s a little far away from Utah. Although, we’re always down for a road trip.
Estimated Bloom Dates: April 7th – 14th
Location Photography Fees: None.
- Cherry Hill Farms
For the first time EVER Photography by Tasha Rose is getting exclusive access to this beautiful cherry & apple orchard! Don’t want to stress over the crowds at the State Capitol? With our exclusive access we will have a private area filled with blossoms + a mountainous backdrop provided by our very own Rockies!! HOW COOL IS THAT?! If you book a photo session with us, you’ll also get free admission to the farm to drive around and explore. Photos and an adventure?! That’s our kind of 2-for-1.
Estimated Bloom Dates: April 29th – May 3rd
Location Photography Fees: $10 per car (unless you have a photo session booked with us then your admission is free!!)
Lilacs
-
Memory Grove Park
Don’t you agree that lilacs are totally underrated?! Their purple color is exquisite, and since they grow in bunches on bushes, we can really capture the flowers in your photos. Although there are lilac bushes that bloom all throughout the valley, my favorite spot is at Memory Grove Park in Salt Lake City (just across from the Utah State Capitol). Here you can find an entire row of easily accessible lilac bushes, not to mention the other blooming spring flowers! Plus, it’s a very dog-friendly spot.
Estimated Bloom Dates: May 1st – May 15th
Location Photography Fees: None.
Yellow Daisies
-
Emigration Canyon
I’m no flower expert, so I’m not even sure on the exact name of this flower, but these blooms do make for some epic photos! The bright, sunshiny yellow compliments so many color pallets and gives all the summer vibes. These flowers tend to hang out a little longer than some of the others on this list, but you will still want to act fast!
Estimated Bloom Dates: May 26th – June 5th
Location Photography Fees: None.
-
Ogden Wonderland
These hills are covered in bursts of the little yellow flowers, and the entire effect is breathtaking! Every year I go, I find myself singing “The hills are alive” from The Sound of Music. This location is actually in a residential area, and since wildflower locations tend to get overrun by photographers, I am keeping the details of this location reserved for Tasha Rose clients only. We are pros at finding ideal locations, but this is just one of the many benefits if you book your photo session with us!
Estimated Bloom Dates: May 20th – May 31st
Location Photography Fees: None.
-
Albion Basin
Switzerland or Utah? Honestly, when shooting photos here, I feel like I’ve been transported to another world! This is just about every person’s favorite of the Utah wildflower locations! It is EVERYTHING. And yes, there is a much bigger variety than just the yellow blooms, although they stand out in every picture. Sadly, the news has gotten out about just how amazing this spot is. So, the state had to get strict on photography permits that must be purchased by a photographer with a business license and business insurance (which I have). This is the most expensive wildflower location on our list, but as you can see in the pictures below…so worth it! You can learn everything about taking photos at this location here.
Estimated Bloom Dates: Late July – Mid August
Location Photography Fees: $180 permit.
*There are other Utah wildflower locations with similar blooms to those in the Albion Basin if that is the look you are going for. I would be happy to share those hidden gems with booking clients.
Red Poppies
-
Mantua Poppy Fields
Yes, all the Wizard of Oz vibes. Although thankfully, these poppies won’t put you to sleep! And yes, they look almost too perfect to be real in photos. This is another very popular Utah wildflower location and the flowers bloom in a small area that quickly gets overcrowded. I HIGHLY recommend scheduling a morning photoshoot or you will likely find dozens of other photographers and lots of trampled flowers.
Estimated Bloom Dates: The first week of June.
Location Photography Fees: None.
Garden Flowers
-
Thanksgiving Point’s Ashton Gardens
If you are looking for a beautiful and reliable location of perfectly manicured blooms, Thanksgiving Point’s Ashton Gardens is the place! Ever heard of Utah’s Tulip Festival? This is where it’s at. And they also have the most incredible rose gardens that bloom later in the summer. Either way, you’ll love any photos you get taken here! We aren’t able to offer mini photo sessions at Thanksgiving Point because of the photography fees, so if you’re wanting photos here, you’ll need to book a full session with us.
Estimated Bloom Dates: Tulips in April and roses in July.
Location Photography Fees: $50 permit and $20 admission for each person.
