Since most of the weddings we get to photograph are in landlocked Utah, we love any excuse to take pictures along a coastline! Tasha loved photographing this wedding in Newport Beach, California.
Kayla and Logan Andersen have a pretty classic Provo love story. They met at church while going to BYU and became good friends before starting to date. When the pandemic hit, these two decided to stay in Provo instead of heading home. This ended up being a huge blessing since they were able to spend every day together for months! Kayla said, “What I love about us is how we fit into each others families really well. We are truly each others best friends and everything is so easy and natural”. The two love listening to music, watching movies, going on drives, and trying new activities around Utah!
Kayla and Logan Andersen had their wedding in the Newport Beach, California Temple on August 21st. They were supposed to have their dream wedding in December 2020, but due to the worldwide pandemic, it had to be postponed. They still got married in December, but waited to have their temple sealing and wedding reception this summer so they could celebrate with all of their loved ones.
Tasha flew in the night before so they could have a gorgeous bridal photo session on LA’s RAT (Right After Torrance) Beach. They took pictures at a lighthouse and were so excited to find a stunning overlook too. Swooning over Kayla’s beautiful dress? It’s from The Perfect Bride in Utah! The highlight of that night was definitely stopping at In-N-Out Burger on the way home. Since the drive thru was crazy busy, the couple went inside (wearing their wedding clothes) to get their food. It made for some really fun memories!
After the sealing the next day, the groom’s family had a churro truck come to a nearby parking lot. Such a fun idea for wedding guests! Tasha got to ride to the reception venue with Logan’s family and gave his parents some great advice about wedding speeches. “Tell a personal story! Keep it positive, but bonus points if it’s funny. And don’t forget to mention their new spouse as well. Wedding guests love to learn about the couple.”
Bluewater Grill in Newport Beach, overlooking the water, was the dreamiest reception venue. A highlight from the night was the bride and groom’s entrance to the reception, which included confetti bombs! Kayla and Logan also took the cake smashing very seriously. This reception definitely wins for best wedding food ever (steak, swordfish, and chicken). And it also might get the reward for the amount and quality of wedding dancing. Special thanks to Kayla’s family for letting Tasha stay in their home. She loved everything about this wedding in Newport Beach, California!
