The engagement session I have to share with you today is for two people who are extra special to me. Maysie and I met at church my Sophomore year of college. We had some of the same friends and would chat now and again. I met Tanner on a double date the night I went out with my now boyfriend. Maysie & Tanner ended up meeting through a carefully concocted scheme to get into the zoo for free. I take full credit for playing matchmaker here!
My boyfriend and I really wanted to visit the Hogle Zoo for a date we had planned, but tickets were $20 a person! We were determined to find a way to get in without paying $20. I remembered that Maysie worked at the zoo as an EMT and must be able to get people in for free. I began thinking of a reason Maysie would want to go to the zoo on her day off with someone who she was only kind of friends with. Then Tanner came to mind, and I thought I could set them up on a blind date. Maybe then Maysie wouldn’t mind getting me and my boyfriend into the zoo as well.
It took months to finally find a time to organize this double date. We ended up going on a hike in the mountains instead and then to Park City for dinner. Maysie & Tanner hit it off so perfectly! They had so much in common. One date turned into a second… and then a third. A year later, the two of them are getting married!
Their engagement session was an adventure! Tanner’s family owns a beautiful cabin in Oakley. We headed up for a weekend trip to catch the fall leaves before they all disappeared for the season. Oakley was seriously stunning, and it was so much fun to get away for the weekend! I love that I knew Maysie & Tanner before they met, and I can now see the joy their love has brought to each of them.
Congratulations, Maysie & Tanner! I can’t wait to celebrate with you at your wedding in April!
P.S. They never did take me to the zoo.
