So, you’ve picked out an amazing photographer but just want to make sure they’re really the best fit for you?
Here are 10 important questions to ask your photographer—plus, our answers!
1. What happens if the photographer is sick?
We are a team of five photographers, so if your scheduled photographer is sick, another member of our team will be able to jump in and take those photos for you. We’ve all been trained in the same techniques, and Tasha edits each photo herself. Because of this, we can guarantee that your photos will match our style no matter which photographer is actually behind the camera.
2. Will you edit all of my images and what style of editing do you have?
Check out our website and social media accounts to see examples of our photography editing style! All of our photos are very bright, joyful, and timeless. Since each picture is edited by Tasha, the style of photos we create for our clients is always consistent. If you are looking for a different editing style, definitely find a photographer whose published photos match what you are looking for. Asking a photographer to change their editing techniques and style is like asking a chef to alter the recipe for their signature dish.
3. If my wedding goes late, will you stay? Is there an extra charge?
We are happy to stay until the end of your event! We will discuss the timeline prior to your special day, but oftentimes weddings and receptions go longer than originally planned. Who doesn’t love to celebrate?! About 15 minutes prior to your scheduled end time, we will check with you to see if things are wrapping up, or if you would like us to stay longer for an additional charge. We are happy to add time in 30-minute increments.
4. How long should it take to get my wedding photos back and how do we access our photos?
Of course you’re excited to share all of your wedding day photos with family and friends, so we do our best to get them back to you as soon as possible. Engagement and bridal sessions are delivered within 2 weeks, and full wedding galleries are delivered 4-6 weeks after the wedding. We also don’t limit the number of images you receive and are known for sending way more photos than promised! All of your edited photos are shared through an online gallery where you can download and print them as you wish.
5. Are there any hidden fees?
No one likes hidden fees! The only cost not included on our pricing guide is sales tax. After discussing your desired wedding photography package, we will send over an invoice that includes the exact price. This will not change, unless you choose to alter your wedding package. We are happy to make adjustments to this package as your wedding day gets closer and plans become more concrete.
6. Do you have a shot list for our wedding day?
A few weeks before your wedding, we will send you a pre-wedding day questionnaire that includes all of our best tips and tricks that will help your wedding day run as smoothly as possible. It will include our general shot list, with space provided for you to add any other photo requests too. Keep in mind that you can make additional requests on the day of as well. 7. Are you comfortable taking charge of a big group?
Taking charge of large groups is our super power! Our goal is to make group photos as stress-free, quick, and enjoyable as possible! With us, you won’t have to worry about personally yelling for anyone to get in the photo or smile—we’ve got you! We’ll work through the shot list as quickly as possible, while prioritizing grandparents and little kids so they can be finished with pictures first.
8. What if there is bad weather?
We will make sure your wedding has perfect weather! Haha, we wish. Obviously we can’t control the skies, but we will do our best to communicate on back-up plans with indoor options. You can find an estimated 10-day weather forecast here. We always recommend scheduling a bridal session prior to your wedding as well. This way we can be flexible on that date to ensure ideal weather for at least the photos of the bride and groom.
9. Can I customize a package to fit my needs?
Absolutely!! Our pricing guide includes the packages most commonly booked by couples. But, your wedding is YOUR day so we are happy to discuss a custom package that fits your needs and vision. Reach out to us via email for custom pricing.
10. What is your COVID policy?
Our policy includes NO fees for rescheduled weddings or sessions or cancellations that are related to the C word. We are here to work with you and help make the best of any plan B, C, D or J. Even when Utah was under its strictest restrictions this past year, we still found a way to safely and legally photograph sessions and weddings. It’s a priority to us that you have pictures to not only help you remember all of the details of your wedding, but also for you to share those details with your loved ones who could not attend.
