I love to travel more than just about anything, but traveling to photograph a wedding is probably the greatest thing ever! Especially when it’s for a bride and groom as awesome as Abby & Taylor!
Abby & Taylor were married in Portland, Oregon. I flew in the night before, and Abby’s adorable aunt and uncle picked me up for the airport. The two of them were so fun! We had a great time chatting during the whole car ride to the house where I was staying.
Abby and her cute mom picked me up the following morning to photograph a bridal session before the sealing at the Portland LDS Temple. Along the way, I learned that Abby & Taylor met while Taylor was serving a mission in Portland! He really hit it off with her family during his time in their ward and did a lot of good for the people there. Abby gave Taylor her email address before leaving for her own mission in Milan, Italy. The two of them wrote to each other while she was abroad and developed a close friendship. When she returned, they reconnected right away and started dating a week later! They went for a walk on their first date. 40 days later, they were engaged! When you know, you know, right?
I really enjoyed spending time with Abby’s mom throughout the day. She talked about choosing Abby’s wedding dress and what an emotional experience it was. They went to a couple of different stores until they found the one that brought them to tears. She was so happy that her daughter found someone so perfect for her. Abby & Taylor really click and understand each other’s sense of humor.
The Portland Temple is absolutely gorgeous and very busy! The couple’s entire wedding day was beautiful. Taylor specifically requested a chocolate fountain for the reception. Most grooms don’t have too many opinions when it comes to the wedding day, but I’ve found that if they do, it usually has to do with food. Because their wedding was on May 4th, Abby & Taylor were gifted a Star Wars themed quilt from a friend in their neighborhood to mark the occasion. May the fourth be with you!
Congratulations, Abby & Taylor! Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into your hometown! I really enjoyed your wedding day.
